    Hello there, good morning!

We have a web story carrousel on our site homepage. And although we could not find any data on either on “Cookies” or on “Local session”, our team have been pondering the question:

Does google collect any data from the web stories? If so which kind?

We were unable to find any documentation as far as GDPR, so we need help from you guys, thank you!

  • Hi @vtrmage,

    Thanks for getting in touch!

The Web Stories plugin by default does not send any data to Google when installed. If you have Google Analytics ID configured in the settings, data about users opening/viewing stories on the site will be sent to the analytics platform. There is also data like this that can be sent to ad networks if AdSense is configured within the plugin.

Site owners must ensure consent is collected from site visitors before collecting “story analytics” data, and that the consent covers any other tracking and personalization done by their configured ad network as well. You can manage these notice/consent requirements with a plugin like WP GDPR Cookie Notice for this, which supports AMP.

Let me know if you have any other questions.
