 * Hey, I am uploading webp images directly since years, I am currently unsure about
   the settings. If the retina image is already a webp, should I enable the webp?
   I deliver the webp direct via a nginx setting, if some image is not webp, it 
   gets converted by ewww on the fly.
 * So, what are the correct settings to deliver all images in webp without double
   loading or waste calculating power?

 * If you’re already uploading WebP images, they’ll be detected as existing, so 
   you can keep the optimized images feature enabled. This allows you to select 
   retina options for different sizes. The delivery method relies on WordPress core
   hooks, so it won’t perform many additional operations beyond what’s already done,
   especially if the values are consistent for your media in WebP format.
