# Web.config Issue

 * Hello All,
 * I just installed WP 4.5.1 on Windows Server running IIS version 7.5
 * The installation went through fine as I installed WP using Microsoft’s WebPlatform
   Installer. However a strange issue I encountered was that there was no need to
   put in a web.config file. If I add the web.config, it gives me a 500 Internal
   Error. If I remove the file completely, there are no issues logging into the 
   WordPress admin portal.
 * Just wondering if anyone has encountered the same…Any feedback is highly appreciated!

 * Are you manually adding the `web.config` file or are you letting WordPress create
   it? I’ve seen this from time-to-time, but just had to make sure WordPress could
   write to `web.config` and re-save permalinks (**Dashboard** -> **Settings** -
   > **Permalinks**).
