 * Hi!
 * As described in the title, Imagify does not generate the WebP format of the images
   nor create a backup of the same even if the folder exists in the root of the
   site, see attachment “imagify-backupfolder” of [this gallery](https://postimg.cc/gallery/DSCNhvF).
   The folder contains only thumbs of 2 images out of about 160 uploaded, see image“
   wp-content-uploads” of the gallery, the webP version of these two images is contained
   in another folder called Backup contained in this path: wp-content> uploads>
   backup> elementor> thumbs.
 * In this folder “wp-content> uploads> backup> I find all the images of the site
   but not the WebP version.
 * The settings of the plugin is visible in the image “imagify-settings”
 * The page I need help with: _[[log in](https://login.wordpress.org/?redirect_to=https%3A%2F%2Fwordpress.org%2Fsupport%2Ftopic%2Fwebp-format-not-generated%2F%3Foutput_format%3Dmd&locale=en_US)

 * Hi [@lunarossa](https://wordpress.org/support/users/lunarossa/)
 * You have to add Elementor folder to Custom folders in Imagify Settings, so we
   could fetch them and create WebP for them.
 * Regarding “wp-content-uploads” screenshot, I can’t see the type of images. Can
   you make the name column wider and see if there is .webp extension to some of
   them? There should be. If not, make sure to reoptimize some of these images and
   see if it’s going to show up.
 * **> In this folder “wp-content> uploads> backup> I find all the images of the
   site but not the WebP version.**
 * WebP should not be visible in backup folder, we store only original files in
   that one, after optimization, just in case you need it in the future.
 * Let me know if you need any further assistance, I am happy to help.
 * Best Regards
    Marko

 * Hi Marko
 * the matter is more complicated than I thought, I created a new gallery, [this is the link](https://postimg.cc/gallery/T6bVmFH).
 * The first image is a screenshot of the plugin settings, “uploads-1” shows an
   uploads folder as you can see there are two images for one the WebP version has
   been created, for the other not, even if from the media gallery it appears that
   for this image the WebP version has been created see “testimonianze servizi”
 * Unfortunately this strange behavior also occurs in other folders see “Uploads-
   2”, this folder contains between original images and thumbnails created by Worpress
   52 files only for an image and its thumbnails the WebP version was created.
 * I took your advice and re-optimized some images from the media library, I also
   tried bulk optimization but nothing has changed.

 * Hey [@lunarossa](https://wordpress.org/support/users/lunarossa/)
 * Thanks for explaining this further. Indeed, this looks quite strange.
 * Let’s try something just to be 100% sure. If you get the URL of image in screenshot‘
   testimonianze servizi’, can you confirm the path is the one from FTP (just to
   be sure it’s not from other period so might be taken by mistake).
 * If so, can you install [Imagify Tools helper plugin](https://github.com/wp-media/imagify-helpers/tree/master/various/imagify-tools)(
   download ZIP and install via Plugins > Add New Upload) and check the image from
   the same page. Scroll down a bit and you should have additional info about optimization(
   including WebP info).
 * Can you see any error on it?
 * Other than, if you upload a new image via Media Library and optimize it, do you
   see WebP, is it generated?
 * Thanks!

 * Hi Marko
 * > can you confirm the path is the one from FTP
 * yes i can confirm that the path is tne one from FTP, [here is the link](https://www.giardinaggiointeriore.net/wp-content/uploads/2020/06/testimonianze-servizi.jpg)
   of the image, you can check it yourself, as you can see the folders are the same
   ones displyed in the screenshot i sent yesterday.
 * > Can you install Imagify Tools helper plugin
 * I installed the plugin but I can’t figure out how to do the test you suggest.
 * > if you upload a new image via Media Library
 * yes if i upload a new media the optimization starts immediately and the WebP
   are created for both the original and the miniatures.

 * Hey [@lunarossa](https://wordpress.org/support/users/lunarossa/)
 * Thanks! I think we are getting closer. There is [no backup image](https://www.giardinaggiointeriore.net/wp-content/uploads/backup/2020/06/testimonianze-servizi.jpg)
   for that one. That means only two things:
 * 1. Image is not optimized
    2. Backup was not created for some reason (intentionally
   or by accident).
 * I understand you were able to find “most of the images” in backup folder, but
   let’s focus on this one specifically, just to be completely sure what is going
   on.
 * Can you take this image and download to your PC. Then connect via SFTP and upload
   it to its’ supposed backup location (you can follow the link I put above)? Then
   go to Media Library, find the image and reoptimize it.
 * Check if WebP is created for it.
 * **> I installed the plugin but I can’t figure out how to do the test you suggest.**
 * After installation, you should see the fields below the image in editor, you
   can check this [screen recording](https://www.dropbox.com/s/xbkln76qyzbt36s/Screen%20Recording%202021-09-22%20at%2010.26.55.mov?dl=0).
 * We might need the access details if these steps do not help, I hope we will make
   it work without it, though.

 * Hi!
 * > There is no backup image
 * I followed your hint, after uploading the iimagine to the backup folder and re-
   optimizing it the WebP format was generated. Does this mean that I have to perform
   the same procedure for all images for which the WebP format has not been generated?
 * > After installation, you should see…
 * Thanks for the video, now I know how the plugin works.

 * Hey [@lunarossa](https://wordpress.org/support/users/lunarossa/)
 * Thanks for letting me know. So I guess that was the problem as backups were not
   made at some point. I can’t blame you or us for this, it could be caused by multiple
   factors.
 * Unfortunately, the quickest way to resolve the problem would be to repeat it
   for other images as well :/ I understand it could be time-consuming, but can’t
   get idea of any better way, sorry.
