So I’m not quite sure what I did, but I apparently super-broke my webpage.

When I try to go to the website, or the admin login page I get the error below:

    __________________________

Warning: require_once(zip://#template): failed to open stream: operation failed in /home/customer/www/2835rcacc.ca/public_html/wp-includes/template.php on line 790

Fatal error: require_once(): Failed opening required ‘zip://#template’ (include_path=’.:/usr/local/php74/pear’) in /home/customer/www/2835rcacc.ca/public_html/wp-includes/template.php on line 790

I’ve been going down the rabbit hole trying to set up phpadmin, filezilla, xampp. I have no coding experience (beyond Qbasic back in the late 90’s lol)

The last thing I did was just click on the update templates buttons, after that everything blew up.

I have wasted a few hours trying to set up and recover things; but I frankly have no clue and the stuff for phpadmin etc is totally over my head.

Is there anyone that can be directly contacted to just reset everything? I’m happy to just start over, but I literally have no clue what happened or how to fix it.

This website is for a non-profit youth organization, with the express intention to just provide an address, contact form, and links to the parent organization website.

Any help would be appreciated, thank you.

You don’t need to set up XAMPP, that’s a web server for running your site locally. Your site is already running on a server provided by your hosting provider.

Similarly, you don’t need to set up phpMyAdmin, since most hosting providers offer that in your hosting account’s control panel.

Try manually resetting your plugins (no Dashboard access required). If that resolves the issue, reactivate each one individually until you find the cause.

If that does not resolve the issue, access your server via SFTP or FTP, or a file manager in your hosting account’s control panel (consult your hosting provider’s documentation for specifics on these), navigate to /wp-content/themes/ and rename the directory of your currently active theme. Hopefully, this will force the default theme to activate and rule out a theme-specific issue (theme functions can interfere like plugins).

Thanks for the advice, through a big rigamarole I was able to find out and contact the host of the site.

They were able to reset the plugin, and provide me with the FTP credentials so I’m setting that up to back up the site.

I’m creating a secured file with all of the pertinent information so this won’t happen again down the road.

    Thanks again for your help.
