# Website not loading

 * I was trying to add a widget area and I believe I did something to break my site.
   It comes up with this error:
    The [http://www.rookiemamasjourney.com](http://www.rookiemamasjourney.com)
   page isn’t working
 * [http://www.rookiemamasjourney.com](http://www.rookiemamasjourney.com) is currently
   unable to handle this request.
    HTTP ERROR 500
 * How would I fix this? When I open it in internet explorer it says:
    Most likely
   causes: •The website is under maintenance. •The website has a programming error
 * I’m pretty much sure it’s a programming error (me doing something I probably 
   shouldn’t have been) and now I can’t get on to save or fix anything. Help!!!!!!!!!

 * Download the file you were editing (which broke the site), fix it, and re-upload.
   Use FTP for this.
 * If you can’t fix it, download a clean copy of your theme and upload the file(
   s) you edited to overwrite the bad ones.
 * And now that the horse is out of the barn, NEVER NEVER use appearance->editor
   to edit PHP files because one little oops and you crash your site. Edit locally,
   save the changes, and upload.

 * As sterndata said,
    Replace the file you were editing.
 * Or go to wp-content/themes/ folder using FTP.
    Delete the theme you are using.
   Go to WordPress Dashboard and re-install the theme or get a new one.

 * Sorry but what is FTP? I’m about as new to this as you can get and yes I now 
   know I did a very stupid thing.

 * You’ll have to contact your host to find out how to set up an FTP account or 
   use the file manager from your hosting control panel.

 * Use this link to understand how file manager works in Bluehost.
    [https://my.bluehost.com/cgi/help/file_manager](https://my.bluehost.com/cgi/help/file_manager)
 * Once you are in the file manager.
    In your site’s root folder. Go to wp-content/
   themes/
 * And delete your theme folder.
