• Hello,
I am using WordPress Sportedge theme. I installed it on 3.4 latest version of WP but the Website was way too slow. As theme is old I thought it might be due to incompatibility issues with new version of WP. So I downgraded to 3.1.1. but still the problem remains.

IT takes more than one minute for the website to load. The URL is:
    http://www.nhlalert.com

I tried all the plugins (W3 Cache, DB manager, FREE CDN and so on) but nothing worked. So I have deleted all extra plugins. In fact I deactivated all Plugins but the speed was not enhanced by much. I ran few analysis tests and from these tests it seems like that the problem is due to the broken links on the website.
    http://tinyurl.com/bn92tpu
As you can see there are many broken links and when you click on them we get a 404 Error. But the problem is that these files do exist in the theme directory. For example first broken link is
    http://nhlalert.com/wp-content/themes/SportedgeTheme/sportedge/images/skins/tango/skin.css?ver=3.1.1

But the file skin.css exists in the tango directory as it should. But when tried to access it gives 404 error. So what is the problem?

Has it something to do with permalinks?

Please help I am stuck here and situation is critcial.

    Regards.

  • Have you tried:

    – deactivating all plugins to see if this resolves the problem. If this works, re-activate the plugins one by one until you find the problematic plugin(s).

    – switching to the Twenty Eleven theme to rule out any theme-specific problems.

resetting the plugins folder by FTP or PhpMyAdmin. Sometimes, an apparently inactive plugin can still cause problems.

    Hi Esmi,
I have mentioned it in the thread. I have tried that. But the main problem is 404 error. Please advise.

Please try all of the steps I mentioned above.
