 * Earlier I posted about [http://www.cinefantastiqueonline.com](http://www.cinefantastiqueonline.com)
   suddenly acting slow – both the website and the admin section. Now it is virtually
   dead.
 * How can this happen?
 * I am running other wordpress websites off the same service provider, with no
   problem. Bandwidth and memory are not even close to being exceeded, and traffic
   is virtually nil.

 * I see the site perfectly fine, is the problem solved?

 * I don’t think that’s the problem site. It looks like he’s redirecting cinefantastiqueonline.
   com to a temporary site – cfmag.com, so there’s really no way to see the problem
   live.

 * [@stevejay](https://wordpress.org/support/users/stevejay/) – did you do anythng
   prio to it completely dying on you? and is it posible to take the redirect off
   so that we can take a look at the site and hopefully offer some assitance!

 * The only recent change to the website was adding a few more categories (e.g.,
   dividing “Reviews” into “Fantasy Reviews” and “Sci Fi Reviews”).
 * A week ago I upgraded the All in One SEO Pack, which prompted some changes to
   the database before it could be activated (if memory serves).
 * The perplexing thing is I run another wordpress 2.7 website using the same theme(
   Options), with almost all the same plug-ins, but that website is having no problems:
   [http://www.hollywoodgothique.com](http://www.hollywoodgothique.com).
 * I have taken off the redirect.

 * One obvious problem I noticed was misplaced Adsense code in your theme head section.
   It needs to be moved to the body section.

 * Just remembered something: When I updated All in One SEO on July 12, I did a
   database backup and scheduled weekly backups to be emailed. On the 19th, the
   backup for Hollywood Gothique showed up, but no backup for Cinefantastique.
 * When I noticed the problem today, before attempting any fixes, I tried to backup
   the database with WordPress Database Backup plugin, but it was a no-go. First
   time, it stopped backin up after 12%; second time it didn’t get past 1%.

 * How many plugins do you have on the site?
 * Try deactivating the backup plugin and delete the ones u dont use or need.
    The
   EventCalendar plugin seem to be heavy on the site – too many imagiges are called
   for.
 * The site loads but like you said its slow – too many instances of javascript
   queries and plugins can slow down a site a fair bit. You are with Bravehost and
   if you are hosting all your sites on the one account can have an impact too.

 * I previously deactivated all of them except (I think) Database Backup and EventCalendar,
   but right now I can’t even get into the admin to confirm that or delete any more.
   I’m surprised you were even able to get the website to load.

 * Oh, and thanks, mercime, for the link to insturctions for manually backing up
   the database. That worked, so at least I can stop worrying about losing any posts.

 * Use your ftp and rename the plugins in question then try to access your admin
   from the browser.
 * I got as far as the wp-admin login screen but now the site is hanging on the
   google ad banner with just the background image. Is the image part of the theme?
   If so rename all the themes but for the default and see if that helps with the
   load time and access.

 * Deleted unused themes and renamed the plugins but still can’t access the website.
 * I have a feeling the problem lies elsewhere. The website had been running problem-
   free for months with these plugs in, background images and ad banners. Then suddenly,
   last night, just before midnight, it suddenly went bad.

 * Okay, I went back and tried again. Admin was merely slow, not unusable. Deleted
   some more stuff from the website and got the website running. It’s a pale shadow
   of what it was, but at least it’s visible to visitors.
 * Thanks to everyone who chimed in. I guess the problem is “resolved,” but the
   mystery remains: how could the website handle over 5000 visitors one day a couple
   weeks ago without incident and then suddenly be so screwed up that it only could
   handle a dozen today?
