• Google notified me that one of my sites was hacked. That is when I began to look at my files via FTP. Several of my websites I believe have been hacked with some weird folders containing 1 to thousands of php files. I started to delete them but some of them I am unable to get rid of. One folder is called VAPOR SPEED as an example. I’ve been told to change my PW’s, re-upload the WP-Admin and WP-Includes folders to see if this will help stop the intrusion. Any ideas of why this is happening and how to deleted file that say are prohibited.

    Thanks in advanced.

    Possible Reasons:

Weak FTP password that can be guessed by a hacker.
Outdated software (plugins, addons, themes, etc) that has security vulnerabilities that are not patched (make sure that all scripts on the account are up to date and have the most recent security patches).

    Remedies:

Change all account related password to strongest one.
Do not store passwords on browser.
    Optimize website code/database queries.
Make sure that you are always installing applications/themes/plugins etc from authorized resources.
Update any application installed to the latest stable version.
Upgrade scripts/plugins/addon installed to the latest stable version.
    Remove unwanted scripts/plugins/addon installed.
