Hi @gerdski – In the case of taxes, WooCommerce Services allows for automated taxes (ie, no need to manually enter in each line item).
If you look in your ‘Standard Rates’ in the WooCommerce Taxes menu area, do you see that taxes are manually entered?
– Joey
Hi Joey…yes, they are entered manually. Does this mean that your plugin is not active here?
Hi @gerdski – That does sound like the case here. You can try deactivating WooCommerce Services, then checking on those taxes again. If you attempt a test checkout with WooCommerce Services deactivated, that should also tell you if things are running normally. đ

Hi Support,
WooCommerce Services isn’t automatically calculating the tax during checkout. I have Enable automated taxes turned one, there is no taxes set up in the tax section of the WooCommerce settings. Do we have any solution for this?
Regards,
Dale James
No problem @gerdski!
@realsirjames – this is a completely different issue, so please open a new thread.

@jricketts4…one more thing:
I suspect that Jetpack was installed in order to make WC Services work. Maybe we should deactivate Jetpack also. Are you the right person to ask about Jetpack, or is this a question for one of your colleagues?
Hi @gerdski – Jetpack was required for WooCommerce Services, but is not just for that. You can view an article we have about Jetpack here: https://woocommerce.com/posts/jetpack-benefits-woocommerce/
It’s a powerful plugin that you may or may not feel like you need. Regardless, it’s likely not needed if you aren’t using WooCommerce Services on your site. It’s ultimately up to you if you feel the features are rich enough to keep it installed.
Thanks!
– Joey
Of course there are benefits of JetPack, but we must cut down on Plugins, because the site is packed with them, and I must decide which ones we don’t need.
So, if the Site says this on the Plugins Page:
—
Connect Jetpack to activate WooCommerce Services
WooCommerce Services is almost ready to go! Once you connect Jetpack you’ll have access to automated tax calculation.
—
…does it mean that JetPack has been installed and activated but not “connected”…never been used and safe to deactivate?
What would happen if it had been used before and we deactivate it?
Thanks!
@gerdski – the connection is related to WooCommerce Services (ie, automated taxes). You shouldn’t have any issues deactivating Jetpack since you aren’t using any of the automated tax features in Services.
If you’d really like to be sure before deleting any of your plugins, have you considered doing that on a development site? That would allow you to make changes with no risk if affecting the live site. Alternatively, you can just make sure you have a backup of your site before deactivating any plugins to fall back on.
– Joey
Yes, that’s what I will do now, deactivating both Plugins on a Test Site.
Thanks for your help!
