• I am currently still having issues despite the sticky with the instructions on the workaround.

I am running apache/linux with wordpress 2.6, I tried removing the index.php reference and then editing my permalink structure with /%category%/%tag%/%postname%/

I am still dead in the water. Is there any indication of when 2.6 will be released. Or is there someone who can be more explicit about the fix with the permalink structure?

There’s no magic to it. Your pre-existing permalink structure would have worked just fine.

Just change the two “base” fields below that bit to have “category” and “tag” in them. They can’t be empty.

That’s the fix. That’s the workaround. Don’t screw with your permalink structure if you don’t have to.

    Ok

    Hey thanks otto.

While I now feel silly because it is fixed. Can I provide some constructive criticism of the directions.

“Change the two base fields below to include category and tag in them”
is not descriptive enough when the the interface uses the very big Text label, OPTIONAL.

Maybe include the header in the instructions. I was editing the permalink structure itself because I didn’t think I needed to edit the “OPTIONAL” part.

Users don’t read!!! (despite the fact that is how the problem got solved).

    Many thanks for your patience.

The sticky post on this subject actually makes it quite clear, I thought:
