Hi!

I’ll be upgrading WordPress from 3.7.1 to 3.8 in next days. I’ll probably do it manually (by copying files from local instance to instance on server – after checking upgrade procedure locally).

I read that WordPress should by automatic detect if database require update and perform it (), but.. if something will go wrong wheer should I look to find database scripts to execute them manually?

Hi,

I think I found what you’re looking for in the codex:

If a database upgrade is necessary at this point, WordPress will detect it and give you a link to a URL like http://example.com/wordpress/wp-admin/upgrade.php

I’ve found those articles too.. but if there is nothing more about scripts (SQL’s) executing during update described in network (and nothing about errors), it looks that those scripts should be safe and well tested.

So.. time to make backup and prepare for update 🙂

good, let me know how it goes – also always have a backup(of the foldes/files as well as the database). from your post it sounds like you have routines in place already but thought I should mention it.
