no tool-tips, no help file, no descriptions on the plug-in options pages — where’s the documentation?

    what are filter groups for?
    what are plug-in filters for?
    how does one use filters/groups?
what is the purpose of the ‘Permalink’ field in Plugin Filters and why are they ‘Published’ like a page/post?

i’m certainly not the sharpest knife in the drawer, but i’m not exactly new to the mechanics of WP and plugins either and i can’t figure it out how to use the filter groups/plugin groups to easily enable or disable groups of plugins for a group of pages

i would also suggest that the plugin enable/disable options for the page/post editor be re-styled so it’s more compact and doesn’t waste so much space

moving the options to the 2nd column doesn’t really look good with the current styling (the combo control is too wide in my case)

  • It’s nice to see that (some) people appreciate free work others are doing for them.

Glad you’re not too demanding or anything; I’m sure Jeff appreciates comments like these that show gratitude. He’ll get right to work on those demands.

There is some documentation here. http://www.jsterup.com/dev/wordpress/plugins/plugin-organizer/documentation/

I thought there was a link to it in the readme. Guess not. You can also read through this support forum to get answers to most of the questions you have. I’ve been meaning to create some step by step videos on how to set it up. After you’ve become familiar with it feel free to create some to help others.

Plugin Filters are for disabling/enabling plugins on pages which aren’t represented by a wordpress post type.
Filter Groups are for organizing your Plugin Filters like a categories does for posts.
There are also Plugin Groups which you can create from the plugin admin page. You can use those to disable/enable plugins by group instead of individually.
Since the MU component of the plugin does all the disabling/enabling and MU plugins load before the wordpress core there are no post types loaded. So there is no such thing as a post or page at that point and everything is matched using the URL you are visiting. You can diable all plugins in the admin by creating a plugin filter with the permalink http://www.yoursite.com/wp-admin/ and selecting also affect children. You would also need to enable selective plugin loading for the admin area and fuzzy URL matching on the PO settings page for this to work.

hi Jeff – thanks for the reply

rather than YT videos, i’d suggest simply adding some tips into the plug-in options pages, and maybe some tool-tips (mouse hover) – doesn’t have to be anything fancy, just some simple text explaining each option

    take care
