# Where is the RSS code?

 * Hey everyone,
 * I’ve been tasked to use a client’s WordPress site to adhere to various RSS rules
   for podcasting platforms. In particular, Google has a set of requirements and
   recommendations that go beyond the standard setup for a default WordPress RSS.
   While I could theoretically code my own custom RSS feed, I’d rather simply update
   the existing codebase instead of having to manage them separately.
 * Thus, I’m reaching out to you to learn where, in WordPress’ code base, exists
   the RSS code? I’ve searched in functions.php to no avail, and after doing more
   searching, I’ve come up blank. Any help would be appreciated.

 * Instead of modifying core files, which is not only dangerous but will be overwritten
   every time WordPress updates, use a plugin like [https://wordpress.org/plugins/powerpress/](https://wordpress.org/plugins/powerpress/)
   or [https://wordpress.org/plugins/seriously-simple-podcasting/](https://wordpress.org/plugins/seriously-simple-podcasting/)(
   both are free).
