 * When I scroll down while creating/editing web stories, a white screen appears
at the bottom. When the screen is there, I can’t scroll through templates (I
have a work around to scroll back up, then make sure I slowly scroll only on
the templates) but it also won’t let me edit the layers. When I try to scroll
to through the layers, it only shows me the top one, then goes to the white screen.
This makes it impossible for me to change the order of the layers.
 * I’m using the Astra pro theme on WordPress.
 * The page I need help with: _[[log in](https://login.wordpress.org/?redirect_to=https%3A%2F%2Fwordpress.org%2Fsupport%2Ftopic%2Fwhite-screen-at-bottom-limits-functionality%2F%3Foutput_format%3Dmd&locale=en_US)

 * Hi there,
 * Would it be possible for you to take a screenshot of what you are seeing? You
could then upload it on a site like [https://imgur.com/upload](https://imgur.com/upload).
 * Do you perhaps have many plugins installed, causing the admin menu to be very
long and exceed the size of the editor?
 * You could try to temporarily disable all other plugins to see if that changes
   anything.

 * Here are screenshots:

 * This only happens when the story editor is open, it doesn’t happen anywhere else.
 * Also, sometimes when I go to “my stories” the screen will be blank. I have to
sign out and sign back in to get my stories to appear

 * Hi there [@partnersinfire](https://wordpress.org/support/users/partnersinfire/),
 * Thanks so much for sharing that screenshot and further details. Can you try temporarily
disabling your plugins to see if there may be a conflict here? Here’s how to
   do that:
    1. Install and activate the [Health Check & Troubleshooting plugin](https://wordpress.org/plugins/health-check/)
    2. In WordPress admin, go to Plugins and click **Troubleshoot** to enable [Troubleshooting Mode](https://make.wordpress.org/support/handbook/appendix/troubleshooting-using-the-health-check/#troubleshooting).
This mode disables active plugins and switches to a default theme safely; this
will **not** affect what your site visitors see, as it only changes the look
and feel of your website for logged-in administrators.
    3. On the Troubleshooting Mode page, under Web Stories, click **Enable while troubleshooting**
    4. Check to see if the issue you’re experiencing with Web Storiesis still occurring
while in Troubleshooting Mode with Web Stories enabled
    5. If the issue is still occurring, click **Disable Troubleshooting Mode** to exit
       Troubleshooting Mode
    6. If the issue **does not** occur while in Troubleshooting Mode, re-enable your
site’s plugins one-by-one by clicking **Enable while Troubleshooting** for each
and checking Web Stories. This can help us pinpoint if a particular plugin or
       theme is causing the issue.
 * Please let me know what you find either way and we’ll go from there. Thanks!

 * Hello Bethany, thanks for the response.
 * There are 4 plugins that each cause a small gray line under the web stories.
When they are all turned on, the effect is cumulative, and the line grows (it’s
a small stripe with just one on, and grows larger with all four. These plug-ins
are: Woody code Snippets, Simple author box, WP central, and Yoast (both premium
   and free versions).
 * However, even with all of the plugs in off, without a white stripe at the bottom,
I can’t scroll through the layers. The stories only show me one layer at a time,
and I can’t re-arrange them. The only want to put text on top of a box is to
create new text and put it on top of the box. I can’t grab the text in the “layers”
section and move it up so that it displays above the box.

 * Thanks for this thorough testing, [@partnersinfire](https://wordpress.org/support/users/partnersinfire/)!
 * I set up an empty WP install with the same four plugins that you noted, and I’m
not seeing the white line being added. This indicates that there might be some
CSS in your site’s theme that is causing this as well as the associated issue
   with layers.
 * In order for me to do some more testing, can you please share your [Site Health information](https://i.imgur.com/Rtkmsba.png)
   privately [via this form](https://docs.google.com/forms/d/e/1FAIpQLSd-AeFLOIJd4NLYz7EDUa9vMfzZIoT5Bn1leV3dL2CM_B1C6Q/viewform)?

 * It sounds like you’re running into [this issue](https://github.com/google/web-stories-wp/issues/5458)
with lots of empty space below the editor, which is usually caused by there being
tons of admin menu items and the window/screen being relatively small.
 * As for the layers panel, it’s worth noting that you can resize the layers panel
to make it bigger (to show all layers)
