 * Why did WordPress remove Tinymce and go with a blank editor?

 * To make it less cluttered.
 * You can install the hidden buttons using this code [http://codex.wordpress.org/TinyMCE_Custom_Buttons#Enabling_hidden_MCE_buttons](http://codex.wordpress.org/TinyMCE_Custom_Buttons#Enabling_hidden_MCE_buttons)
 * or you can install the font styles and sizes using this plugin [http://wordpress.org/extend/plugins/fonts/](http://wordpress.org/extend/plugins/fonts/)

 * This seems rather silly to me. I mean which is worse? A cluttered looking editor
where you could a least make a word bold, add a list and an image or an uncluttered
editor where you can’t do these things?
 * So I guess making the words on the editor white to match the white background
color of the editor was to keep in step with WordPress’s desire to maintain that
   uncluttered look also.
 * I think I’ll just go back to 3.4.1 where things made a little more sense.

 * 3.5 hasn’t changed except of the media options.
 * Don’t you have any buttons in your editor?

 * No, not a one and the text is also white. You can see the words of the sample
page (editing) if you highlight them with your mouse.

 * In many cases you cannot download the WordPress zip file and then upload it to
a web server because it is too big. It has to be opened and the folders and sub-
folders compressed into smaller files and then uploaded. Neither the Windows
7 zip program or 7 zip is able to zip some of the files in WordPress for some
reason. Many files are omitted in the compression process.
 * WordPress laid a bad egg with 3.5.

 * That would be the normal way of uploading any set of files & folders.

 * This is not an indication of a bad upload, but more generally an indication that
your javascript isn’t working properly. TinyMCE is still included in WordPress
   3.5.
 * Try reading through the master list. You may have an incompatible plugin or theme.

 * The problem was that the Windows 7 zip program and 7 zip will not compress some
of the files in WordPress 3.5 – many of the .js files in fact. I did not have
this problem with 3.4.1 which was the last WordPress version I installed before
   this one.
 * WordPress is too gigantic a program. Too gigantic to be uploading file by file.
 * I generally try to discourage my clients from using WordPress because I feel
it’s too big and complicated. Plus a new version comes out every two weeks it
seems, and you’re nagged to no end until you upgrade. One could literally spend
more time upgrading than blogging. If it were just to plug security holes then
a small simple patch would suffice instead of having to re-install the entire
   program.
 * I realize that my opinion means nothing, but WordPress would do well to have
a much smaller, lighter version with fewer features perhaps that non-full-time-
   bloggers could use.

 * Okay, first, there’s nothing special about the files, and any ZIP program can
compress them just fine. 7Zip on Windows has no problems for me.
 * But the real question is why are you trying to recompress the files? The WordPress
ZIP file is only about 5 MB or so, and it can be uploaded directly to a web host
and decompressed there, if you so choose. Even uploading the individual files
   directly is relatively quick.
 * Download FileZilla and learn to use it for this sort of thing. That is, if you
have to manually upgrade at all in the first place. On most hosts, the one-click
automatic upgrade works just fine and you don’t have to download any files whatsoever.
