 * I am trying to understand this error:
 * “Updating failed. The response is not a valid JSON response”
 * I have tried several procedures but the only thing that works is installing and
activating Classic Widget. For me this is not optimal.
 * So can someone explain to me why Classic Widges fixes the JSON-error?

 * I had the same error as you, I solved it by turning off modsecurity

 * What is modsecurity? Is it a WordPress plugin og something you configure elsewhere?

 * Thanks [@aqit79](https://wordpress.org/support/users/aqit79/) ! Turning off modsecurity
stopped the problem for me too. This started yesterday for me. I turned modsecurity
back on and the problem came back (cpanel warns me not to leave modsecurity off
except for testing). I can use the classic editor for now.

 * Ok, I have now deactivated modsecurity, and now the error is gone, but this should
only be a temporary solution. The problem is not solved.

 * Wow, this issue has actually been fixed. No more JSON-errors when saving a post!
But it would be nice to get more background information about this should this
happen in the future. Do not mark this as resolved. Why did this happen, please!

 * Can you tell me how the issue has been fixed? I have the same problem and use
classic editor plug in to cope with it.

 * if you are experiencing a bug with WordPress which is reproduced with clean installation
and default theme, please fill a trac ticket

 * Yui: This time the “problem” is that the bug is being fixed, so it cannot be
reproduced. I would like to know what caused the JSON-error, so that I can be
prepaired next time is happens. Or maybe I should just wait for the bug to be
   solved “by itselv”?
 * By the way, why was my last comment deleted?
