 * Is it possible to add a widget area before the post’s title – in between the
   header and the post title?

 * I don’t believe there is anything built into the functionality of the theme that
would allow for this. Perhaps you could get into the theme’s template files and
pull a widget area into that spot if you create a child theme, but I can’ say
exactly what that process would entail.

 * Yeah you would need a child theme for that. You would have to edit templates/
content-single.php add in your widget area to the top of the file.

 * Do you know of any free plugins that would achieve this? I want to add a feature
box, but the Plugmatter plugin doesn’t show anything when enabled. So I wonder
if the theme doesn’t let it display anything or what.
 * Never did a child theme and I’m a bit worried I’d mess something up.

 * Hey, I don’t know of a free plugin. I think using a child theme would be your
best way but if you don’t know coding then you may need to hire a developer.

I don’t know the plugmatter plugin but there isn’t anything in the theme that
would hide content. I suggest contacting the plugin authors.
