I’ve always enjoyed the simplicity of including the toolbar wherever I liked on my client’s sites by simply adding it to a widget area that I would define in functions.php. * But now with the recent changes to addthis I can’t figure out how to do this. There’s no longer an Addthis widget under “available widgets” in the backend. I’ve tried following the instructions in my addthis dashboard, adding the javascript and html to the appropriate spots in my templates, but it’s not working. This is on a local installation of a new site so I can’t share a url. * Can you talk me through the new approach I should be using now that the addthis plugin no longer seems to support widgets? * On a related subject, it’s interesting to note that even though I’ve upgraded the addthis plugin on my older wordpress sites, they are still showing the widget under appearance > widgets. It looks like you can use widgets as long as you pay for their pro version. We still have a free offering and have no plans to change that. You can use the plugin for free for the foreseeable future without paying for AddThis Pro. (Though we obviously hope you find it useful enough to subscribe.) * Our latest plugin doesn’t include the widgets, but you can put our tools into widgets by using the HTML widget. First, configure the tool you’d like to appear in the widget in the AddThis Dashboard. (In this example I’m using the horizontal follow buttons.)
