• I have a long-term “vision” question for you. Is the goal to eventually merge this plugin into WordPress core? I kinda hope so…

The only reason I ask is that yall had the Gutenberg plugin first, but after a few years, it was brought into WordPress core. It seems that once Auttomatic puts their weight behind a functionality like this or like Gutenberg, it’s usually to test it and see if it’s ready for core.

There’s no timetable for merging AMP into core. It’s not something we have a plan to propose. If the plugin gets wide adoption and the WordPress community as a whole becomes more favorable and the ecosystem more compatible, then I can imagine a merge proposal. But there’s no need for it to be in core. It can live just fine in a plugin.

What reasons do you see for merging it into core?
