    Hi,

Woocommerce is set to sync to Square.

Sync Settings are set to Woocommerce. If I change this to Square what data will I lose for each product within Woocommerce?

When I have done a stock take using the stock take section in Square several of the product images got deleted from inside Woo and replaced with a picture placeholder, why is this?

Lastly, a customer purchased an item online via a third party. The sync settings brought the stock level down to 0. This item was not in stock, therefore the customer was refunded. Woo then increased this to 1 in stock. I then manually went into Square and amended the stock so it read 0 as we did not have this item in stock. Woo has then come in and overwritten this and added in an extra 1 so stock was showing as 1. This item has then sold again via the third party when the stock in Square was set to 0, Woo changed this to 1 in Square and now we have sold this again and both Woo and Square are still showing that we have 1 in stock. What is going on?

The page I need help with: [log in to see the link]

  • Hi there @aminsha 👋

The Sync Setting (previously known as System of Record before the 3.4.0 version) will determine how product data is shared between the two and which one has the last word if there are differences between the two.

The Sync Setting is important when you change or update the products.

I recommend checking out the document linked here, for more details on Sync Setting, with WooCommerce Square.

When I have done a stock take using the stock take section in Square several of the product images got deleted from inside Woo and replaced with a picture placeholder, why is this?

Just to clarify, the products whose images you report getting deleted at your WooCommerce site after syncing, do they have images in Square?

Furthermore, it is important to note that you can run a manual sync any time to ensure records match between Square and WooCommerce. Feel free to check out the related documentation about this, directly linked here.

When WooCommerce is set as the Sync Setting, inventory changes in WooCommerce overwrite Square inventory. When Square is set as the Sync Setting, inventory cannot be changed in WooCommerce, and will always be pulled from Square. Regardless of your Sync Setting, inventory is pulled from Square every hour to account for POS sales. Any inventory editing needs to happen at Square.

Going through the documentation linked here will help clarify things further.

I hope this is helpful! Please let us know if you have any further questions or concerns.
