    Hi,

Since updating woocommerce to 5.0+ the minification settings on W3TC no longer work correctly. Previously everything was displayed properly but now everything displays in a single column.

I have checked with the theme (salient) developer and they see the same issue whether they are using salient or any other theme e.g. the 2019 theme.

This seems to be either a W3TC issues or a woocommerce issue. Either way, please can you help me understand why all of a sudden the minification settings now break the display of any woocommerce page?

Currently, I have reverted to a set up which leaves the page in a correct state. That solution is to use a mixture of settings from w3TC and the SG Cache plugin. I would prefer to only use one cache plugin (yours) but At the moment I can’t.

I look forwards to a reply soon.

    Hello,

Have you been using both plugins before the update? Also, are you using Auto minify or manual?

    Hi Marko,

Sorry for the delay – I have been away.

Yes, we used both plugins before updating. We were previously using auto minify. I tried manual but got the best page speed scores etc with just auto.

Is this a problem which you can solve?

    thanks,

    John

    Hello,
It seems that after the update there was a change in the code which can cause issues when using auto.
Minifying in those cases can be tricky. You can use GTmetrix to test your website and use the information to add js files manually to minify.
Also using two caching plugins can cause issues. Make sure to disable the other Caching plugin in order to take full advantage of W3 Total Cache.

In this case, having two plugins is the best solution / compromise. It allows us to take advantage of the benefits of both.

A change in woocommerce’s code? If you were to update W3TC though, then it would fix the issue as you would again be aligned with a working code base?

If W3TC doesn’t work like it’s supposed to, then I will have to look at other options.

    Hello,

There is a possibility that the WooCommerce update caused errors in the minify process and they may have an issue in their CSS somewhere causing the minify to stop somewhere halfway in a file or not include that file at all or something like that.
So it’s probably their problem, not ours, as they have incorrect CSS
We use excellent minify library, I don’t think it’s the library that’s the problem. 99% of cases like these are incorrect CSS problems
And an update of our plugin will probably not fix this issue
