  • There are several reasons I can think that allow a plugin deactivation

    A manual deactivation
    A failed plugin upgrade
    Plugin folder was renamed or removed on the server
    Changing the active plugin list in the database

    Are you the only one with access to the admin area who can change plugins? Have you noticed any unusual behavior in the database (like really long queries?)

    I was able to find a reference that says a plugin author can disable plugins if they are not updated. I believe Wordfence doesn’t disable the plugin but the API stops working and a message is displayed if the plugin is too outdated to work. (Have to verify with Mark on this)

    Let me know the answers to the above and I’ll see what else I can dig up.
