# WordFence firewall optimization loop

 * Hi,
 * I seem to have the same issue that was described here [https://wordpress.org/support/topic/support-stuck-in-firewall-optimization-loop/](https://wordpress.org/support/topic/support-stuck-in-firewall-optimization-loop/)
 * My question is: once Cloudways’ bot protection has been turned off to complete
   the firewall optimizatio, should it be turned back on?
 * If no, is there any security downside? Should I ignore WF’s prompt to optimize
   the firewall and keep the bot protection on?

 * We do not recommend turning bot protection back on after turning it off if you
   want to use the optimized firewall.
 * Wordfence does offer bot protection, however it it up to you which security method
   you want!
   Optimizing the firewall isn’t required, however it will increase the
   security of your site.

 * Thanks Joshua, I have disabled the bot protection from Cloudways and optimized
   the WF firewall. I will keep the bot protection off on Cloudways
