After a plugin is updated, WordFence always show the modified files. I believe that is normal.
i never had this problem before and i even updated 3-4 plugin today after new wordpress version without getting any wordfence problems for those plugins. live chat i made the update once it was available. maybe its cause of the new wordpress update
Maybe it has cached files from a previous version and compares to (or wrong tag). If the files on your server are the same as the ones included in the official ZIP then you are OK.
Hello @koullis, of course after an update some files are modified, because we made changes to them. Sometimes file comparing tools ignore trailing CRLF or don’t recognize them properly. It may happen that some files are including a trailing CRLF as a only change, so they are reported as different but apparently are the same (and actually they do are the same from a code point of view).
It’s easy to tell because the file size differs of 2 bytes (CR and LF).
Use a good file compare if you want to be sure.
Consider that as long as you download the plugin from WordPress repository, you’re always sure to get the latest and original version.
thank you for your replies. I know that files change after updates cause of code changes. I always update through wordpress and if for any reason i want to do it manually ill still download it from official wordpress plugin site.
As you said it might be wordfence problem of recognizing the files and still compares it to previous version. Ill wait few days and check again
Hello @koullis, we just released version 8.1.5 of our plugin. Let us know if you experience issues with Wordfence during this update.
