Please try to deactivate all the plugins and change back to Original theme through your FTP.
Way to deactivate all plugins and change back to original theme:
Plugin:
Open an FTP program such as Filezilla and connect to your host server. Open /wp-content/plugins folder. Delete or rename the plugin folder and the plugin will be disabled.
Theme:
Open /wp-content/theme folder. Delete the activated theme folder and the default theme will be activated.
you should now be able to login into the admin section. š

If I delete the activated theme, won’t that basically delete my entire website? Will I need to then re-upload the entire theme and all of the settings and altered css?
You can rename the current theme folder – you don’t need to delete it. But you should not be modifying theme files anyway – except via a child theme.

I tried both of these and I am still getting the same error message. Any other suggestions?
Try:
– switching to the default theme by renaming your current theme’s folder inside wp-content/themes and adding “-old” to the end of the folder name using FTP or whatever file management application your host provides.
– resetting the plugins folder by FTP or phpMyAdmin.
– re-uploading all files & folders – except the wp-content folder – from a fresh download of WordPress. Make sure that you delete the old copies of files & folder before uploading the new ones.
– running the upgrade manually via wp-admin/upgrade.php

I did all of that and now its giving me a 500 internal server error message
Do you have access to server logs? If so, check the logs for the 500 error to see what further details are provided.
I am having this same issue now.

Tried to update to 3.6.1 got a 505 error and now our web page says

None of those things worked for me either. I ended up basically re-doing my whole site. Not cool.

No, I contacted the theme support to see if it was a theme issue but no one else had the same problem. I contacted godaddy who I am hosted through and they couldn’t tell me anything. I tried going back to an old version of wordpress, deactivating all of my plugins, re-uploading all files and folders, and every other tip that the nice people above gave me but to no avail. I wish I could help you!

I have resolved my issue (http://ww.wp.xz.cn/support/topic/upgrade-error-cannot-redeclare-wp_convert_bytes_to_hr?replies=1) and manually uploaded the files for 3.6
Just a heads up, more than one person is experiencing the same issue with the upgrades.
I think it’s the 3rd party installation process through GoDaddy causing the issue since we all seem to have the same host
