• Yesterday, I got a suggestion to update to WP 5.0. Today, I used Duplicator Pro to copy my staging image over my development image to back up to a stable 4.x base.

I found the new ‘editor’ maddening. Blocks. How does one delete an empty block? I could not find any clue. Are we reverting to childhood and are now playing with blocks? I am not impressed.

I use the Envira Gallery plugin to display pages of text and images in a gallery for each topic. This plugin uses the convention of embedding the URL of the page into the gallery page. The URL I need is clearly displayed at the top of the Pages detail page, but in 5.0, you have to publish the page, and then grab the URL off the browser line!

I think WP 5 is not well thought out and should be pulled from distribution until some of these ‘upgrades’ are evaluated for their unpleasant impacts on working servers.

Install the plugin “classic editor” to re-enable the old editor.

    That’s not going to happen.
