• Can anybody tell me if the WordPress platform hosted on a dedicated server could handle 1.7 million products in a shopping cart without problems.
    is it doable?
thanks in advance for any help to this question

  • I think 1.7 million products would probably crash your web browser as it is loading. Although it would be doable. Just make sure that you get a hosting plan with very good CPU and RAM.

Also remember that it’s not the amount of products/posts/pages/etc. It’s more about how well your system (theme and plugins) are coded, and what sort of hosting set up you have. There’s no resource problem with a site that’s got 5 million products… and only gets 10 visits a month. 😉

A dedicated server is a good start, and if it doesn’t seem to be handling the load you can always move to a distributed system that uses multiple servers. This is something that you’d need to talk to a good hosting company about, and there’s a lot of them that can do that (but don’t ask for suggestions here as it will get the thread shut down very quickly.
