 * having just searched this topic on the forum, surprised there weren’t others
similar to this topic: i just received an email saying my 7.0 was automatically
upgraded to 7.1 which was totally dismissed as spam. somewhere in the forums
mentions that there would never be an auto update, agree with that, because important
to backup files, upgrade your plugins before any update to wp. well i’m 7.1 now.
   what’s up?

 * There are several threads on this – one here:

 * i clicked your link, thank you. my response in that thread…
 * just read the changes via 3.7.1 and no mention regarding security. not happy
with this practice when other items than security fixes are altered… what’s officially
   mentioned is…
 * WordPress 3.7.1 is now available! This maintenance release addresses 11 bugs
   in WordPress 3.7, including:
 * Images with captions no longer appear broken in the visual editor.
    Allow some
sites running on old or poorly configured servers to continue to check for updates
from WordPress.org. Avoid fatal errors with certain plugins that were incorrectly
calling some WordPress functions too early. Fix hierarchical sorting in get_pages(),
exclusions in wp_list_categories(), and in_category() when called with empty
values. Fix a warning that may occur in certain setups while performing a search,
and a few other notices. For a full list of changes, consult the list of tickets
   and the changelog.
 * If you are one of the nearly two million already running WordPress 3.7, we will
start rolling out the all-new automatic background updates for WordPress 3.7.1
in the next few hours. For sites that support them, of course.

 * my theme is over five years old with over 25 plugins. each plug is deactivated
and activated one by one with any upgrade. can you feel my pain? 😉

 * I’ve deleted your response in that thread – it’s resolved and it’s not your thread.

 * If you don’t want updates, you can disable them – though it’s not recommended–
did you look at the link on doing so?
