# WordPress broken Technical difficulties

 * hello. I’m just setting up my blog. some plugins download fine but when I try
   and download updraftplus I get installation failed website experiencing technical
   difficulties. I deactivated all plugins and deleted them and got the same result.
   Also tried downloading toast seo, first it failed, now I get folder already exists.
   I’ve tried to follow tutorials and access folders via cpanel but my folders there
   don’t correspond with tutorials. Help please
 * I’ve found the folders in file manager, folders for both plugins that won’t install
   were present. Deleted them and tried again with the same result

   tried deleting wordpress and reinstalling and now get above. Obviously made things
   worse
 * Website now shows but won’t update
 * Please assist, I know it’s a bit of a list, copied from messenger support but
   had no response apart from url request. I’m tearing my hair out

 * WordPress 5.2 introduced new protection from sites crashing due to bad code (
   also known as a White Screen of Death, or WSOD for short). If your site crashes,
   the technical difficulties message is shown, and an email is sent to the site
   admin with a way to log in and deactivate the plugin or theme causing problems,
   once that is done the site should start working again as expected.
 * If you didn’t get the email, you can look for an error log on your server to 
   see what the problem is. If you can’t find one, use DEBUG mode to log an error

 * Thanks. I’ve already done this. No error comes up as website appears fine. Just
   can’t install some plugins and can’t reinstall wordpress through updates. When
   I try and do either I get the technical difficulties message but no email. I 
   was also idiotic and thought if I uninstalled wordpress and reinstalled I’d get
   a clean slate but new install has same issues but non of my pages :(. Trying 
   to import my content back and the importer doesn’t see my xml file when I click
   browse files. It does show if I go into my downloads folder from finder though.
 * I became aware of the problem when trying to install updraftplus plugin, which
   is when I first got the technical difficulties message. Be grateful if you could
   help me find a solution.

 * Thanks. Messaged WordPress through facebook in the end and they had to reinstall
   wordpress for me and that particular plugin. Should I still report? For anyone
   else looking for a solution the plugin needed to be installed by ftp.
