 * We are looking into wordpress.com to host our company site, which we run as a
multisite. My assumption is that wordpress.com would support multisites, but
I couldn’t find any documentation to ensure that.
 * Does anyone have any information about wordpress.com and multisite support before
   we make that transition?

 * Wordpress.com is multisite, but they do not provide multisite service for companies.

to know what you are hoping to gain by using wordpress.com that you do not get
   from existing multi-site installation?

 * Our IT Department has been trying to manage their own Linux build on our servers(
much to my chagrin since they are .NET guys). Finally, they have conceded that
they cannot effectively manage a Linux server and are willing to move to a third-
party host. They are skittish about typical shared-server environments that are
most host providers and are of the opinion that going with WordPress.com’s paid
hosting, that gives them more security knowing that WP itself is managing the
   WP shell.
 * Personally, I’m just fine with the third-party hosts I use for other clients,
but I need to find out if wordpress.com is a good solution in comparison. If
not, I need some ammunition to go back and push for my reliable third-party hosts.
