# WordPress crashes when Activating

 * I want to evaluate MailPoet but when I try to activate the plugin I get a 500
   error on all pages across my site. It’s definately this plugin as all works correctly
   when I rename the plugin folder. Any idea why or how to find out why it crashes
   my site?

 * Latest version 4.17.1 is also breaking my site with the following error:

 * Can you check if it is the same issue for you?
   A rollback to 4.17.0 did not help
   for me. I have the plugin deactivated for now.

 * Could you please try [Re-installing / Updating the Plugin via FTP](https://kb.mailpoet.com/article/258-re-installing-updating-the-plugin-via-ftp)
   using the latest version and see if it helps?
 * If it doesn’t, please reach out to your hosting company, they will be able to
   help you check the server error logs for more info.
