Have you tried switching to the default theme (“twentyten”) for a moment by renaming your current theme’s folder in wp-content/themes. The idea is to force WordPress to fall back to the default theme to rule out any theme-specific issue.

If you don’t have access to your admin area, then access your server via FTP or SFTP or whatever file management application your host provides.

I used my FTP-application (Filezilla) and deleted the theme I’m using (Oulipo), but then my entire blog disappeared. When I uploaded it again, the blog was back to normal (though I still cannot access the dashboard at all). Simply renaming the Oulipo-folder “twentyten” didn’t work, as there is already a file there with that name. Perhaps I misunderstood your suggestion? As you can probably tell, I’m still a bit new to wordpress.org. The strange thing is, my blog is still online and looks completely normal, it’s just “behind the scenes” there is nothing at all.

You dont’t want to rename Oulipo-folder “twentyten”. Instead, rename it to something like OulipoHOLD. Then the default twentyten will kick in (of course, provided you have the default twenty default folder).

Hm. Tried it, but then the entire blog disappeared, and the dashboard was still gone. This is so strange! Thank you for helping me, I appreciate it a lot! 🙂

Any other ideas I might try? I’m starting to think I’ll just have to upload the entire blog from scratch.

    Help!

My WordPress dashboard (widget and all) has disappeared.
I’m using WP 3.1.3. Was notified that 2 plug-ins needed to be updated. I just updated (blindly, as I always trust WP.org and have never had a problem of any sort like this before) and can’t remember what the plug-ins were.

Is there an easy way to the dashboard back?

    Eureka!
Found the plug-in that caused my dashboard to disappear: WordPress Tweaks 2.0 http://johnlamansky.com/wordpress/plugins/tweaks/

It seems the “Disable WpDashboard” option is on by default.

    Duhhhhhhh!!
