 * Hi, I’m having a bit of a problem with WordPress deleting HTML code. I want to
create an imagemap and I’ve got the code to do this. It works in a normal browser,
but when I put it into WordPress it deletes all of the imagemap code whenever
I press “save” or “publish” and just posts it as a standard image.
 * I’ve tried only using the HTML view. I’ve tried disabling the “visual view” in
my profile. I’ve tried pressing “publish” without saving first. None of this
works. I’ve even tried taking the code from a previous imagemap that exists on
the blog I use (that someone else added a long time ago) pasting that into wordpress
and it still deletes the code. The problem is not with the visual editor or the
code itself, so I’m clueless as to how to actually post it.
 * If anyone has any ideas of a workaround that would be great. Thanks!

 * One possibility would be to use a [shortcode](http://codex.wordpress.org/Shortcode_API)
   to insert the HTML.

 * Thanks for the response! I’m not sure how I would go about doing that – which
   code would I use?

 * You would need to create your own shortcode. The article I referenced gives an
   example.

 * I’ll be honest, that seems a bit beyond my skill-level. I figured there would
be some sort of relatively simple workaround to stop wordpress just randomly
deleting HTML code, but it doesn’t seem to be that easy.
