Since 2 days I can’t write into my Blog ([http://blog.hg-l.com](http://blog.hg-l.com)) anymore. Under the Savebutton where it sais “saving…” comes now “unknown error”. I didn’t change any options or something. Last time I wrote something is about 7 days ago so I even wasn’t on my Blog since then. Now I upgraded from 2.5 to 2.5.1 in hope to change things, but no chance. Even alone saving an entry doesn’t work. I’m assuming the blog linked in your profile is the one in question. * Most of your links go to non-existent pages or do absolutely nothing. * When I run your page through a validator I get this: * ‘ Sorry, I am unable to validate this document because on line 70 it contained one or more bytes that I cannot interpret as utf-8 (in other words, the bytes found are not valid values in the specified Character Encoding). I already tried anything I could imagine (even doin’ without permalinks even though they do not apply at admin-interface). It keeps telling me an unknown error. I would think of an JS-Error. Too bad WP doesn’t put out any logs 🙁 * edit: Now I am confused. WP won’t save anything into the database. I just wanted to try to edit something and it just won’t save. After I press “Save” it WP loads up a page with all settings and lots of “SERIALIZED DATA”-Fields :S * [deus62](https://wordpress.org/support/users/deus62/) * (@deus62) * [18 years, 1 month ago](https://wordpress.org/support/topic/wordpress-doesnt-save-anymore/#post-757318) * Sorry, I’m not an expert on these matters (relatively new to WP) , but I would think the database upgrade failed and that’s why you have problems. * I remember that I read somewhere that in the upgrade process, when the strings get corrupted (afaik, serialized data are turned into strings from memory to be stored in the DB), a server can’t convert those data back into a PHP object. * Just a stab in the dark. * Others should be able to help a lot better here, but if nobody else chimes in, this is what I would do: * Try to get your backup data into the DB (hope you have a backup), revert everything back to what it was before, and reinstall WP while making sure the DB upgrade script runs properly. * Beyond that, sorry, I’m far too dumb when it comes around to WP. * Thread Starter [exportforce](https://wordpress.org/support/users/exportforce/) * (@exportforce) * [18 years, 1 month ago](https://wordpress.org/support/topic/wordpress-doesnt-save-anymore/#post-757323) * But you’re at least answering 🙂 I knew it was a failure to update.
