WordPress editor won't update files on server

at first, i noticed it with my style.css file. in “editor” – [edit theme] will save all changes and announce that the file has successfully updated. but it never has.

i’ve reset my browser, emptied cache, reinstalled wordpress – with no success, then checked the file (style.css) that’s on my server (ftp/ dreamhost). strangely enough, it still carried the previous style. i tried editing my other files through the editor, and it would do the same thing – announce file has successfully updated, but it really hasn’t.

bug?

if it matters, i’m also using the twenty ten theme.

any help will be appreciated!
