# WordPress glitches…

 * One of my client’s sites has been doing some funny things lately. To start, I’ll
say that the site did have a virus a few months ago, but I cleaned out all the
infected code, reinstalled WordPress, and changed themes, but there’s still some
   funny things happening.
 * For one, when I’m logged into the Dashboard, the dashboard dropdown menus (admin,
Dashboard, Edit Page, Add New, Comments, Appearance) are showing up on the website’s
pages, over the page content- I’ve had to install a plugin to hide it, but it
still bugs me that it’s something that shouldn’t be happening in the first place.
 * Second, there’s a little ‘>’ in the upper left-hand corner of every page, and
I have no idea where it came from, or what file it’s actually hidden in. Since
I switched themes, and it’s still there, I’m assuming it’s in one of the native
WordPress files, but I can’t find which one! I don’t think it’s actually hurting
   anything, it’s just really annoying.
 * Lastly, none of the images are showing up that have always been on the site.
They keep showing a broken link. I’m in the process of going through the directories
to see if the images have been moved (I think that’s what happened, somehow.)
If it isn’t that, I’m not sure what could have happened!
 * If anyone wants to take a look at the site (don’t judge, it’s still a work in
progress) it’s ‘balletgloriadeo.com’. Any help would be greatly appreciated!

 * Start with the coding errors — there are major problems:

 * Ok, by seeing the validation results, I think I understand WHAT I need to change,
but I’m still not sure WHICH file to go into to edit the errors out.
 * I’m sure I’m missing something simple, but when I’m going through all the files
in Fetch, I just can’t seem to locate the file that needs to be edited. Does
   that make sense?

 * Those errors are all likely in the header.php file — the “>” is likely the first
thing in that file — and causing several of those errors. What theme are you
using? Has it been edited at all?

 * Yeah, that was the first file I checked, and no dice. I’m thinking it’s not in
one of the theme’s files though because I’ve even switched themes to see if that
would fix some of the errors that I mentioned in my first post. Nothing changed
when I did that though, so it makes me think the issues aren’t in the theme but
in the Dashboard content that’s carried from one theme to the next.
 * Is there an easy way to tell what file it is from looking at the Validation output?
It’s like it has all the content of the file, but it doesn’t tell you which file
   it is!

 * BTW, I’m using ‘Gleam’ from Elegant Themes. I’ve had issues with their themes
in the past, so I don’t think I’m terribly surprised…
