# WordPress is Adding and “; “

 * Hi,
 * I’m using the classic text editor in 2017. I’ve tried adding functions to my 
   child functions.php as recommend. But nothing will stop it. I hit update and 
   suddenly <p> and semicolons get added.
 * I can’t begin to tell you how frustrating this is. I need editing that DOES NOT
   ADDING ANYTHING!
 * I would even consider going into the DB to stop it. There really should be a 
   toggle or a plugin that stops this.
