• Merci

I underwent an attacke on 2 of my websites last week. Sites were transformed into rerouting towards other sites.

According to Wordfence, the problem was in the directory / wp-content.

Difficult to know if the problem was in / plugins or themes.

I read many comments on the subject but not really of solution.

I made a test reinstall a fresh version of wordpress and reimport the backup datas. The problem began again.

    My question is:
1 – Do you think that xml file can contain also the malware?
2 – When we replace files by those of one fresh install, what butt / uploads?

    Thank you

When a sites been hacked we always recommend remaining calm and carefully follow this guide. When you’re done, you may want to implement some (if not all) of the recommended security measures.

To answer specific questions, redirection code can hide in many places, both changes to files but also within db if they are using javascript or similar and found a way to run it.

    Other problem:

One of the sites is a Multisite:

So, to reinstall, have I to activate the option multisite in “wp-config” or leave on ” false “, then reactivate MU option?

What what I inderstand, it is; be an system engineer, php engineer, Javascript expert or then, be rich 🙂

From experience I found Wordfence to be a stupid plugin that doesn’t help you much. I would like to recommend https://ww.wp.xz.cn/plugins/gotmls/

You can scan you website for malware.

Thx Navneil.I do not trust in these firms which want catch you for 70 $ / Mo / site anyway.

t should instead work with wordpress to make it more secure. As for the disease, it is better to prevent the disease. Safer internet . lol

Hi @kamerleon1er were you able to get this addressed? Is everything resolved?
