 * Hi,
 * I have created a wordpress site and updated it without problems until yesterday
   I login to wp-admin again and I realized some of the settings randomly returning
   me 404 Page not found. Some of the notable ones I saw was update-core.php, plugin.
   php, even updating of permalinks will also encounter the same problem. When I
   tried to install new plugins, the screen will stuck at downloading the package
   and nothing happened.
 * I have read through some of the solutions here, update the permalinks (rename
   the old .htaccess files and update the permalinks), deactivate all plugins and
   activate one by one, but no result.
 * I wonder if anyone here encounter the same problem as me and if their are any
   solutions you might think will solve the issue.
 * Oh yes, the screen will stuck at “updating…” when I tried to update of current
   plugins too.
 * Thanks a lot!

 * Have you tried:
 * – deactivating **all** plugins to see if this resolves the problem. If this works,
   re-activate the plugins one by one until you find the problematic plugin(s).
 * – switching to the default theme to rule out any theme-specific problems.
 * – [resetting the plugins folder](https://codex.wordpress.org/FAQ_Troubleshooting#How_to_deactivate_all_plugins_when_not_able_to_access_the_administrative_menus.3F)
   by FTP or PhpMyAdmin. Sometimes, an apparently inactive plugin can still cause
   problems.
 * – re-uploading all files & folders – **except** the wp-content folder and wp-
   config.php & root .htaccess files – from a **fresh** download of WordPress. Make
   sure that you delete the old copies of files & folder before uploading the new
   ones.

 * Hi,
 * Today I tried to login again and everything seems fine now. Never really did
   anything else and I have tried to update my plugins (which previously didn’t
   work) and everything runs very smoothly.
 * Thank esmi for your help!
