 * I have wordpress website. I am trying to change css code under Theme Editor>
   Stylesheet. But when i click on update file button an error occurred.
 * `Something went wrong. Your change may not have been saved. Please try again.
   There is also a chance that you may need to manually fix and upload the file
   over FTP.`
 * Can anyone let me know how do i solve this problem?

 * This sounds like a permissions problem. Can you try the [Health Check](https://wordpress.org/plugins/health-check/)
   plugin to see if it finds the problem?

 * [@joyously](https://wordpress.org/support/users/joyously/) is there any other
   way to check and solve this problem. I cannot add css all the time using ftp.
   I find Theme Editor easier way to add/edit css.

 * Did you try the Health Check plugin? What did it say about file permissions?

   Why are you trying to do CSS through the file editor? If it’s a parent theme,
   it will be overwritten when it is updated. If it is a child theme, you should
   be making updates locally and FTPing them to your site. Either way, you can change
   CSS in the Customizer under Additional CSS and you don’t have to change any files.
   Or use a plugin to add CSS that stays when you switch themes, and you still don’t
   have to edit a file.

 * [@joyously](https://wordpress.org/support/users/joyously/) Yes, I tried this
   plugin too. After installing this plugin I click on the start button and after
   a few seconds my website stop working and all my plugins was automatically deactivated.
   I had no idea what’s going on with my website. I had installed this plugin to
   solve my problem. But I was in new problem. 🙁

 * [@joyously](https://wordpress.org/support/users/joyously/) I am changing css
   under wp-admin/theme-editor.php section. I think all css is stored in this section
   then how it will be overwritten?
    Could you please explain this.
 * Waiting for your kind reply.

 * What “start” button?
 * Did you install [https://wordpress.org/plugins/health-check/](https://wordpress.org/plugins/health-check/)?
 * The information about writability (if that’s a word) should be on the opening
   screen.
 * It may be that you do not have write permissions for `wp-contents/themes/yourtheme`.

   how to find file permissions using Health Check. So i am going to attach snapshot
   of site status examined by Health Check. Hope this will help you to find bug.
