 * I am working with a colleague who needs to make updates to his website in our
   multisite wordpress environment. I spent time with him yesterday to see how he
   is navigating WordPress using his screen reader software (JAWS on Windows 10).
 * As a follow up, I would like to point him toward some web resources/tutorials
   that give tips on using WordPress with a screen reader. Has such documentation
   been developed?
 * I did share the [Keyboard Shortcuts information from the Codex](https://codex.wordpress.org/Keyboard_Shortcuts),
   what I am looking for are some tips on what to listen for in the screen reader
   for common tasks such as “create a new page”. I think his best bet will be to
   access the admin toolbar from the front end for common tasks, some insight on
   how those links present themselves to screen readers would be helpful.

 * Hello, mainelykirby, & welcome to the WordPress support forum. Well this just
   happens to be your night–or whatever time of day it is where you live lol.
 * Please tell your colleague to go to:
    [http://www.wp4noobs.com](http://www.wp4noobs.com)
   where you can find a whole bunch of screen reader tutorials which also happen
   to be free. And they also happen to be mine. Ahem. Hopefully this won’t be viewed
   as self-promotion, as I don’t get any money for them.
 * Should he require additional assistance, he’s welcome to post at:
    [https://wordpress.org/support/forum/accessibility](https://wordpress.org/support/forum/accessibility)
 * If he does post, he (or you) might wish to post a link here just to alert me,
   as I probably don’t check over there quite as often as I should. Ahem again.
 * HTH the both of you.

 * Hi abletec, I appreciate the response.
 * Is that the correct URL? I’m not seeing tutorials there.

 * Hi mainelyKirby,
 * There’s a series specifically for screen reader users of WordPress in progress
   at this link: [WordPress with a Screen Reader,](http://www.customerservant.com/series/wordpress-with-a-screen-reader/)
   which is mine, (unfortunately any of us writing tutorials for screen reader users
   have no choice but to be self-promotional to an extent), and is also free. With
   regard to using the tool bar, I think your client may have better luck with accessibility
   if he logs into the administration panel itself, as the tool bar presents some
   accessibility issues that the administration panel does not. I’m in the process
   of trying to google [@abletech](https://wordpress.org/support/users/abletech/)’
   s posts now, and as soon as I find them, I’ll also link them here, and probably
   on my own site as well.
 * I hope this helps,
 * Amanda

 * Hi, mainelyKirby. I should never write just prior to bedtime–it always gets me
   in trouble. I’m sorry–thinking 1 thing,typing another. The actual address is:

   wp4newbs.com
 * The tutorials are located on the ‘Announcements’ page, which is actually the
   name for the blog.
 * :blush:

 * Hello [@arush](https://wordpress.org/support/users/arush/), [@mainelykirby](https://wordpress.org/support/users/mainelykirby/).
   Amanda, sorry–abletec does not end w/an h,so u might have trouble finding any
   posts of mine lol. mainelykirby, here’s 1 last note. It’s tough to get to the
   update network part of the admin dashboard via keyboard. I’ve reported this bug
   at:
    [https://core.trac.wordpress.org/ticket/34668](https://core.trac.wordpress.org/ticket/34668)
 * I don’t think there’s been any action on it thus far. The way I get around it
   is to log into the site via the wp-admin login, using the superadmin username&
   pw. At that point, I go to the browser address bar (alt d) press the end key,&
   type network.php at the end of the URL & press enter. This seems to work quite
   reliably.
 * Please let us know if these things do (or do not) help.

 * That would explain why I can’t find your posts. I did a Google search for WordPress
   screen reader Jackie McBride and it’s still coming up with nothing. Let me know
   if I’ve misspelled something else, because I would really love to not be the
   only resource for WordPress with a Screen Reader tutorials. Totally agree regarding
   super-admin and network login. Browse directly to wp-admin/network.php and log
   in with the super-admin username and password that way.
 * Amanda
