# WordPress Update

 * Hi, I’m trying to update to 3.9. After clicking automatic update, I get the message:
   Could not create directory. Installation failed.
 * I went in with Mozilla and uploaded 3.9 manually into the folder for my website,
   overwriting the WP file that were there.
 * The dashboard recognizes only the 3.8 version that was installed before.
 * Using Filezilla, I looked at the config files in the WP folder. I have both a
   wp-config.php and a wp-confiq-sample.php there. Is this creating the auto update
   failure?
