After updating to version 3.4, I can no longer update my site because when I move the pointer over the index page, it highlights “TRASH” and results in a blank page. If anyone knows how to correct this problem, I would appreciate hearing from you. If this works, re-activate the plugins one by one until you find the problematic plugin(s). * – switching to the Twenty Eleven theme to rule out any theme-specific problems. * – [resetting the plugins folder](http://codex.wordpress.org/FAQ_Troubleshooting#How_to_deactivate_all_plugins_when_not_able_to_access_the_administrative_menus.3F) by FTP or PhpMyAdmin. The very first thing I did was to delete all plugins. It made no difference. I will try switching themes, but since I deleted all plugins they can not be the problem. Since my site has been working perfectly for years, I would suspect the latest update or perhaps a “buggy” Auto Updater. I can assure you that a theme can cause all kinds of issues on a site – including major problems in a site’s back end. Switching to an **unedited** version of the default theme is the only way to rule your old theme out of the equation. * Another, more worrying, possibility, is that your site has been hacked. I tried TwentyTen at that time. Now I have switched to TwentyEleven, as you requested, with the same result. Four (4) choice words appear beneath the page name and one (1) of these is the word “trash” which should only be highlighted when the mouse pointer is over the word “trash”. If any wordpress expert can point me to the file where I can turn the “trash” option off, that would help immensely. Being able to edit my sites is more important to me than all the bells and whistles that screw everything up.
