 * Hi team, I have below questions
   1. After plugin setup, If we import all the WordPress
users into phpbb forum, will that overwrite the existing users or add in new
users?2. Will this plugin assign the previous posts to the new users or not?

 * Hello: the inline hint say
 * > **If there is an existent same username on phpBB, his email address and password
   > are overwritten by the email address and password of the transferred WP user.
   > The process exclude both WP and phpBB default install admins. All users are
   > transferred on phpBB as registered users if they have a role on WP, as deactivated
   > in phpBB if no roles on WP.**
 * note that at this point, users have to login in WP or reset their password, because
with the WP password, the transferred user, will not be able to login into phpBB
until his password has not been updated (while with the plugin installed, any
password is recognized into WP, both WP and phpBB hashes).
 * This feature (recognize WP pass hash in phpBB) may will be added into the next
version of the **phpBB WordPress integration extension v2**

 * transfer and check easy tools are rude, but are working fine and can accomplish
with all the strictly required; read inline hints and helps and if any trouble
   just post
 * ps … yes… the hint will be rewritten in better Eng and more extensive, on next
   coming version

 * Hello [@axewww](https://wordpress.org/support/users/axewww/),
 * Thank you for your response
I have query regarding phpBB posts, does the plugin
assign the previous /old posts to the new users or not?

 * The answer is Yes, but not because the plugin do something special!
 * the plugin link user’s login, change passwords, but nothing more than this: you
have to think that WP and phpBB are completely separated. Same user (with same
email) of course will result to have his posts in phpBB, but not because it is
in some way linked by the plugin or the phpBB extension (whenever used) but because
his login is the same in both phpBB and WP.
 * So it is natural that an user logged with an email in WP same as on phpBB, will
be logged in phpBB as the same user, so he will be able to manage their posts(
and their posts will results to be assigned to him into last posts widgets etc).
 * I think your question come due to a little confusion abut the fact that CMS with
this plugin runs like one, but are completely separated in effect and you can
stop the integration in any moment without any problem (except the required WP
pass reset if the hash is the one of phpBB: without the plugin active the phpBB
   hash will not be recognized).
 * Once you’ll understand the plugin and how it work, you’ll understand that you
can do all what you want, and even much more.
 * I will be glad to show you the way to accomplish with everything that’s possible,
that’s maybe not immediately arguable: just post a question if there is some
   trouble, i will answer asap!

    1. Lets assume as a user I have account on both platforms (WP and phpBB) with same
email address but different usernames (WP username- trupti & phpBB username –
trupti1). In this case, new user will be created on phpBB because they have
different usernames as per your answer however based on email addresss only
we consider that these both accounts belong to one person. Please share more
details on this to better understand
    2. If phpBB user have 20 posts and after migration his/her credential info will
be updated/overwritten. Will he/she still mapped to those 20 posts and can access
the same or these 20 posts will be lost for him/her?

 * Answers:
    1. No new user will be created if another one already exist with same email. And
if there is an user MarcoAurelio in WP, that have same email of GiulioCesare
in phpBB, in WP he will be logged as Marcoaurelio but in phpBB will result to
be logged as GiulioCesare, and viceversa.
    2. I don’t understand so the second question, due to the previous answer. I assume
the answer is yes, of course!

 * ps If you refer to transfer process and warnings that appears to notify about
users to be fixed so to match about email: you could also not fix those users,
leaving them with mismatching usernames but same email.
 * My suggestion is to pair all username/emails.

 * … i just read again my answers: the answer to the second question is obviously
   yes, in any case.
 * > If phpBB user have 20 posts and after migration his/her credential info will

 * Yes. phpBB users remains the same if you do not change them. Only email and password
are overwritten when an username is found the same as in WP, during the transfer
process WP-> phpBB. But/While the user will not be created/updated if the attempted
transferred email belong already to another phpBB user.

 * As per your last answer what I understood is that user credentials will be overwritten
based on email address means password, etc will be updated. But as per your first
answer email address and password will be overwritten based on username to get
clarified on this let’s understand it by a example –
 * Lets say two persons with same username (Trupti1) have accounts on WP and phpBB
with different email addresses such as_ [truptihete@gmail.com](https://wordpress.org/support/topic/wordpress-users-integration-with-phpbb-forum/truptihete@gmail.com?output_format=md)_
   and _[truptisarode@gmail.com](https://wordpress.org/support/topic/wordpress-users-integration-with-phpbb-forum/truptisarode@gmail.com?output_format=md)_.
Now I have two questions on this –
 * 1. As per your first answer, phpBB user will be overwritten by WP user as they
share same username however **they both are actually different users **sharing
same username on two different platforms (WP & phpBB) ?
 * 2. As per last answer, if two users share same email address on WP and phpBB
but different usernames such as TruptiWP and TruptiphpBB, after migration user
credentials will be overwritten such as password etc. But does it also update
   usernames from WP->phpBB ?

   > overwritten based on email address means password, etc will be updated. But
   > as per your first answer email address and password will be overwritten based

 * Exactly: credentials mean the password in this case and the email, IF an username
is found the same as in WP. BUT the user will not be updated,if another username
in phpBB own the same email. A warning will display for the user that has not
been transferred or updated, because the email belong to another username.
 * So that after, using provided tools (very raw and with bad layout but that are
working quite fine) you can fix all and any problem.
 * No, the username is not updated! The phpBB user that own his post, of course!!!
will follow to own his posts!
 * And look that you should not, as specified into installations steps
 * [https://www.axew3.com/w3/wordpress-phpbb-integration-install/](https://www.axew3.com/w3/wordpress-phpbb-integration-install/)
 * that you should set phpBB TO NOT allow usernames changes or same email sharing
between users, even if this can be absolutely ok if you know what it mean.
 * To integrate phpBB and WP with this is very easy and let you have the complete
control, without compromising WP or phpBB databases and files. It can result
hard until you do not understand the fundamental concept that phpBB and WP are
running completely separated. They are linked by a cookie and some mysql instructions,
these that retrieves and/or update (if required) user’s data. And just until
the plugin is active. You’ll be free to return back in any moment without any
   problem just disabling the plugin.

 * ps NOTE that transferred WP users in phpBB, if they try to login in phpBB, will
have to reset the password (in WP or phpBB, that so will be recognized both in
WP and phpBB), because until not updated, the WP hash is not recognized in phpBB(
that use another pass hash way). IF you let users login also in phpBB, you may
have to be noticed about this. Read install steps, and inline hints, it is all
explained and if still in trouble just post! Cheers
