 * Hi, I’m new to word press and web design in general and I’ve probably jumped
   in a bit further than I should have. That said, it’s too late to turn back! 🙂
 * So I downloaded a wordpress/xhtml/css template file that seems to have all of
   the php files and of course has the index.html & css file that the standard WP
   theme (default) has plus a couple of others. I’ve changed the html & css around
   to meet my needs and so it was time to install wordpress. I am using yahoo! as
   a host and so they installed version 2.3.3 apparently, and I’m not sure if I
   can just override theirs with mine? I don’t know how to make a MySQL table yet
   or if my template does this for me? I’m kind of confused to be honest. yahoo
   created a mywebsite/blog page using the default theme and I want it to use my
   theme and I’m just not sure how to hook it all up. I think I have all of the
   files I need.
 * I really just want to know where to go to try and figure out how to get it working…
   are those files in the default theme folder all you need? Or are there other
   files that are involved? When I put my templates php files on the server all
   I see is a blank page – the index.php file seems to be causing this but I don’t
   know why. These are the files that I have:
 * 404.php
    archive.php archives.php comments.php comments-popup.php footer.php
   functions.php header.php index.html index.php links.php page.php search.php searchform.
   php sidebar.php sidebar2.php single.php style.css
 * and then the images folder.
 * Man, I’m so lost right now.

 * Yeh… A bit over your head.
 * Here is some documentation that you’ll need.
    [http://codex.wordpress.org/Getting_Started_with_WordPress](http://codex.wordpress.org/Getting_Started_with_WordPress)
 * Now here are some steps that I suggest.
    1. Verify that your template is compatible
   with 2.3.3 2. Yes, the theme file should be complete. Upload the entire folder
   to your themes folder in wp-content/themes/ 3. In WordPress, go to Presentation
   and select the new theme. This will activate it.
 * Good to go.
 * (You only need to _install_ WordPress if you plan on upgrading to the latest
   version.)

 * Help! I have the same issue but I am even more uninformed then the orginal poster,
   though I seem to have everything on the list she mentioned except the “index
   html.” Mine says index php.
 * How do I find out if the template I download is compatible and where do I find
   the “wp-content/themes/” folder you mention. All I know is godaddy helped Me
   load My wp into My hosting, and left Me to figure out the rest. So what ever
   you upload when you first upload is what I have, and it doesn’t look like much.
   I would really like to use the free template I found, by accident, surfing google.
 * Your help would be appreciated.
 * Thank you
