 * no, I can not. I am sure that foretells the end of the world too.
 * In an hour, when I get to work and check back this post will will be full with
10 more ppl reporting that they cannot as well.
 * When .com comes back, there will be another 10 ppl reporting that they finally
   can.

 * i joined this site 2 weeks ago to start a blog. the image uploader suddenly stopped
working and no one on these boards knows why, and now the actual site is down?
This doesn’t sound like WordPress is reliable software for a site of business
value. Anyone know some reliable alternatives to wordpress?

 * you didnt join THIS site — you joined that site.
 * THIS site is a support forum for SELF-HOSTED wordpress installs, not for people
that sign up for free blogs on wordpress.com and then complain when their business
   sites go down. (cough)
 * If you want to hem and haw over a site going down go elsewhere. For what its
worth, stuff happens, upgrades occur on hosts, etc..
 * Post your complaints over there. And besides, what cheapo hosts a business site
   on wordpress.com.
 * That also might explain some of your other posts on here, as well.
 * sites hosted on wordpress.com dont have the ability to do advertising. Its free–
you dont get to make a buck on someone doing something for you for free.
 * posting questions here regarding problems that you are having over there isnt
going to net you any assistance.

 * Thanks for the reply. I’m unclear on what you’re saying though. If someone wants
to start a blog on WordPress, he/she goes to wordpress.com and joins. Selects
a template, learns how to post, etc. Then if something goes wrong with that site/
system/software, whatever, he/she is directed to WordPress.org for support. So,
I’m unclear on your HERE/THERE thing. If they are not related, why am I directed
   to these forums?
 * Additionally, thank you for your comment about why wordpress doesn’t let people
post ads. However I was able to get a banner on my site. I don’t know if banner
is the right word, but its not an ad. Just a link in the sidebar to Gawker artists.
 * So again, image uploader is not working, wordpress.com is down, can you suggest
somewhere I should go for help?

 * It is not down from here… and they have their own forum:
 * That’s what the here/there means.
 * We (aka wordpress.ORG) support the self-hosted blog script.
    They (aka wordpress.
COM) support the blogs hosted on their server. It is that simple.

 * Who was it that directed you to these forums? Whoever it was, they were mistaken
   to do so.
 * [http://forums.wordpress.com](http://forums.wordpress.com) is where you go for
   WordPress.com problems.

 * _Who was it that directed you to these forums?_
 * In the defense of the OP: it is the WP and WP MU developers who direct people
   here!
When the DB is down even the WP MU error message sends people HERE, to
   wordpress.org/support link…

 * I would guess the guy is posting here because the wordpress.com forums are DOWN.(
Last I heard, they were undergoing another DoS attack.)
 * Just a hunch.

 * Ugh. Somebody needs to report that to the automattic crew, it shouldn’t direct
   wordpress.com users here.
 * Also, the [http://forums.wordpress.com](http://forums.wordpress.com) seem to
be working fine to me. And WordPress.com seems to be up perfectly well, I can
access all sorts of sites on it.

 * Just because _you_ can access it now doesn’t mean everyone else on the internet
can, or that they could two hours ago when this thread started.
 * (For the record, I _always_ used to feel guilty about redirecting .org users
here when they posted on the .com forums, because I was aware of the kind of
reception people who don’t even know what host they’re using were likely to get.
I know that others are still doing it, though.)

 * THANK YOU! I’ve never heard of that forum before. I will begin posting there.
   My apologies.
