# WordPress.com / Host Gator / WordPress.org

 * Ok, so I am so confused! I wanted to start a blog…seemed simple..NOT!
 * I purchased a domain name delightfulmessylife.com through WordPress.com. Since
   doing some research, and wanting to make money off of the blog it seems that 
   the best option for me is to use WordPress.org. I have purchased a starter hosting
   plan from hostgator as well.
 * Hostgator has wordpress installed on it…but it looks the same as wordpress.com,
   is this the way that it is suppose to be? How do I know if I am running off of
   WordPress.org?
 * Also, I went into wordpress.com and changed my server names to the ones provided
   by hostgator and now I cannot access my site…this could be from making the change,
   it takes a while?
 * I have no clue what I am doing, What I would like to do is run a profitable (
   eventually) blog using wordpress.org and have hostgator host my site. Please,
   how do I accomplish this????

 * To answer your first question: yes, your wordpress on hostgator will be the same
   as the wordpress on wordpress.com.
 * Second, you won’t be running anything off wordpress.org. You will be running 
   wordpress off your own hosting which in this case would be hostgator.
 * To check your nameservers, enter your site (delightfulmessylife.com) [here](http://mxtoolbox.com/DNSCheck.aspx).
 * As of now, your nameservers are still with wordpress.com
 * Lastly yes, it can take a few days for your changes to take effect. If you just
   made the change, just check back later.
