 * I’ve been searching for answers all over the web and the forums for days, but
can’t seem to figure out how to solve my problem. Here’s the issue:
 * I’m moving from a wordpress.com blog with it’s own domain (thestylesample.com)
to self-hosted wordpress on GoDaddy, which also happens to be where the domain
is registered. I’ve purchased hosting, installed WP, etc. and would like to do
some “behind-the-scenes” work on the theme before the self-hosted version of
   my blog is publicly accessible.
 * The problem is, whenever I try to access the admin for my WP.org blog at [http://thestylesample.com/wp-admin](http://thestylesample.com/wp-admin),
it always redirects me to the WP.com admin at [http://thestylesample.wordpress.com/wp-admin](http://thestylesample.wordpress.com/wp-admin).
 * Some of the other posts I’ve read address the need to update the name servers
to the GoDaddy hosting, but if I do that, will people be redirected to an empty
blog? I haven’t had a chance to import my posts because I can’t access the WP.
   org admin!
 * I’m getting extremely frustrated because I didn’t think it would be this complicated.
On a techie scale of 1-10 I’m about a 2, so any help or suggestions would be
   appreciated!

 * You can’t run both blogs using the same domain name. You could ask GoDaddy if
you can use a temporary IP address on the new blog and then change the site url
to reflect this temporary address. Then, when you’re ready, remove the re-direct
to the wordpress.com blog and change the self-hosted blog’s url back to the domain
   name again.

 * Thanks for your response, esmi…so I need to set up the new blog on a different
   domain name.
 * What would happen if I changed the name servers? Would a blank blog appear at
   stylesamplemag.com?

 * Yes. Or use an IP address for now.

 * esmi (or anyone else), thanks for the response. So this was happening to me too,
   but I already had a wordpress.org blog at [http://www.pocoleon.com](http://www.pocoleon.com).
I created a WordPress.com blog (pocoleon.wordpress.com) in order to have an OpenID.
 * Creating the wordpress.com blog messed up my theme and admin link for my wordpress.
   org blog.
 * I deleted the pocoleon.wordpress.com blog, but it’s still messed up.
 * Any thoughts are appreciated. Thanks.

 * UPDATE THE BLOG IS FIXED!!!
    I used [http://codex.wordpress.org/Changing_The_Site_URL](http://codex.wordpress.org/Changing_The_Site_URL)
   thanks for the help.
 * The other question lingering in the back of my mind: “You can’t run both blogs
using the same domain name” this seems ludicrous to me, but whatever.
 * I’m just glad my site is working, so if you are reading this and are having issues
with your site, feel free to shoot me a note.
 * Thanks,
    DL
