# work with super cache

 * I have tried several free plugins for speed combining css and js none worked 
   some made slower. Does this work with super cache? Or does it take place of and
   need to deactivate super cache? I do not want to try another as maybe this was
   part of problem of others not working.

   in conjunction with WP Super Cache. I have read through all of the posts in the
   forum and find several comments of users that have both working fine. Granted,
   you may need to do some tweaking depending upon which theme and plugins you are
   using, but that is the cost of using plugins in the first place.
 * To clarify:
 *  – Caching only improves performance for return users as well as users that visit
   subpages with similar content; the first time they visit the site the files are
   downloaded and cached. The cached files do not need to be downloaded again upon
   subsequent visits [until they expire or are deleted from the cache.]
 *  – Minifying improves performance of every page load; including the initial visit;
   subsequent visits are further improved due to the reduced filesizes.
 * Hope this helps you make your decision. I am about to implement both once I finish
   going through all the set-up and docs; I’ll post a separate topic if I have any
   issues.

 * Thanks, the problem for me is the configuring them. I need a check the box. I
   have tried so many i think that pluging totally messed up my site. I uninstalled
   it and i had to activate main theme, then go back in and re activate child theme.
   My color settings and social settings were gone, but that was all.

 * Unfortunate for you, but true, is this quote from the following link:
 * > Many users activate a minify plugin and expect it to just work. This is simply

 * And further, BWPMinify is an “on-the-fly minifying solution,” so the initial 
   page visit may not be improved; as explained in the above article. 🙁
 * Do some homework and read all this plugin has to offer; then reap the benefits.
